Tuesday, February 12, 2019, officers from district B-2 responded to a call for a person stabbed in the area of 148 Stanwood Street in Dorchester. In an unexpected turn of events when officers observed three individuals who appeared to be fleeing the scene. It was soon noted that the individuals were frantically pointing towards a blue minivan.

Officers spoke to the individuals who claimed the operator of the vehicle threatened them with a firearm. Soon the stabbing incident was forgotten as officers immediately stopped the vehicle.

After much resistance to comply with law enforcement by the operator, officers instructed the individual that he needed to exit the vehicle. The individual abruptly turn his body and quickly lunge towards an object that appeared to be a firearm located behind the front passenger seat.

After seeing the weapon officers ripped open the car door and grabbed the suspect’s arm. This turned into a brief struggle to gain possession of the gun. Officers were able to eventually gain possession of the firearm and take the suspect into custody. The weapon was discovered to be a BB gun, which the suspect told officers that he carried the replica firearm for his protection. 

It was later determined that the suspect had no criminal connection to the original call involving a person stabbed. It is unknown it the juvenile suspect was charged.
