On Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at approximately 22:35 hours officers from District B2 responded to reports of shots fired in the area of Grove Hall in Roxbury.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers located a single victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his lower body. Police received reports that two suspects had fled the immediate area, one towards Normandy Street and one towards Castlegate Road.

During the investigation, the primary scene was located with ballistics present on Normandy Street, between Supple Road and Castlegate Road. The scene spanned a full city block, and the evidence indicated the shootout had involved multiple participants.

It also appears a 911 caller altered Operations that a green BMW with two occupants that left the scene towards Washington Street at a high rate of speed, immediately after the shooting. The vehicle was eventually stopped and the operator was arrested on charges related to motor vehicle laws, however it is unclear if the vehicle or occupants were involved in the shooting.

While detectives were processing the plethora of ballistic evidence, officers continued to canvas the path of the fleeing suspects, and eventually recovered a firearm, discarded one block away in the snow. The firearm was processed by detectives, and was found to be at lock-back, indicating it had been fired until empty.
