At about 7:39 PM, on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force, along with the Massachusetts State Police, conducted a traffic stop while on patrol in the area of 875 Morton Street and arrested Donnie Smith, 29, of Hyde Park. Officers observed a motor vehicle with excessively dark tinted window at the intersection of Morton Street Norfolk Street. Officers activated their emergency lights and safely stopped the motor vehicle.
As a result of the traffic stop officers recovered from the motor vehicle a loaded Glock 43 19X9, with one round in the chamber, eight rounds in the magazine and a laser attachment. Officers seized $3,372.00 in USC and recovered fifteen individually packed baggies of Marijuana.
Donnie Smith was placed under arrest and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D, Drugs. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
