Sunday, April 24 2022, at approximately 10:45 hours, Boston Fire responded to Deering Road in Mattapan for reports of a structure fire in a 2 1/2 story, wood frame multi-family home. On arrival firefighters found heavy fire and smoke showing.
The blaze appeared to primarily be on the rear porches however, it extended to the attic. As firefighters attempted to extinguish the fire, companies were ordered off the 3rd floor as the fire burned through and there were serious concerns about the structure’s integrity.

Eventually, crews were able to knock down the bulk of the fire and begin the extensive overhaul. According to Boston Fire, “Crews did a great job with the amount of fire in the rear, to stop the fire from spreading to the adjacent buildings” Boston EMS confirmed that two adults and two children were transported to a local area hospital.

A total of seven adults and ten children were displaced by the fire and the Red Cross of MA was called to the scene to help the displaced. BFD-FIU is continuing to investigate the cause of the fire.
