On Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at approximately 13:13 hours this afternoon, Boston EMTs and Boston Police officers both responded to a 911 call for a person shot. The reporting 911 caller stated that someone had shot her son in front of her in the area near Harvard Street and Paxton Street in Dorchester. The caller also stated that the shooters fled in a white Kia.

When Police officers arrived at the scene, they quickly located the adult male victim and began to render aid. He was suffering from serious, life-threatening gunshot wounds and witnesses report that he was bleeding extremely heavily. Police requested push on EMS and they quickly arrived soon after.

EMTs immediately began to assess the man and it was determined that his injuries were far too severe and he was pronounced deceased on the scene. Police have not identified the victim. The District Attorney told the press the victim was in his mid-30s.

Full notifications were immediately made by the supervisor on the scene due to the severity of the incident. Boston Police Detectives from the Homicide Unit as well as members of the Crime Scene Response Unit, Command Staff and District Attorney’s Office all swiftly responded to the scene. Both Harvard and Paxton Street were closed off so Police could canvas the area for witnesses and evidence.

After speaking with additional witness they broadcast a description for a black male wearing a white hooded sweatshirt fleeing away from the incident in the white Kia that was originally reported. There was reportedly another person in the car who was driving described as a black female wearing a red jacket. In addition to closing Harvard and Paxton Street, Police also closed off the surrounding area of Franklin Hill where the possible suspect was last seen fleeing.

At the scene, multiple shell casings were found and officers were seen searching for evidence throughout the area including preforming a line search. While on scene, police also received a report about another vehicle, a grey van, that had been seen speeding down Paxton Street. However, the van’s involvement in the incident is not confirmed.

Family and friends on scene we spoke to tell us the victim was a hard working father who was employed by Riley Brothers. A Riley Brothers dump truck, which we were told was the victim’s was seen parked within the crime scene. Additional sources tell us the victim was brutally shot in front of his family while he and his mother were loading his kids int the car. Police did not confirm these details.

The only person on scene who gave comment was District Attorney Kevin Hayden. Unsurprisingly, Mayor Wu and Top Cop Cox, who has come under heavy fire over the past week for being overly political and soft on crime, were both no where to be found at this heart breaking scene.

Hayden spoke at the press conference soon after the incident occurred, saying, “This was another unfortunate incident, another brazen shooting in the middle of the day. We simply have too many guns and gun violence that impacts our communities in unforeseen ways, and does so very quickly.”

This shooting comes at a time when Boston is experiencing tragic acts of violence weekly, and sometimes daily. Hayden responds to these concerns: “We will continue to be concerned and continue to do everything we can with this and every other investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice. We need the community’s help and support.”

Police are still investigating this incident and there is no further information at this time and no arrests have yet been made. 1 year agoThis is all too tragic. My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims family. I sure hope they find the people involved in taking this young man’s life, in front of his mother and his children.
