On Wednesday, March 22, 2023, in Somerville MA, Firefighters, and other emergency crews had to rush to the Mystic River where a boat at the Winter Hill Yacht Club had caught on fire. The boat was docked and bystanders called in the fire as they saw smoke rapidly rising from the boat.

It was stated by Somerville Firefighters that thanks to the boat being docked, the fire did not spread to any other boats and they were able to use an aggressive attack toward the fire from the dock using hand lines and their marine unit partners from the water. The Firemen were able to extinguish the fire in no time.

After the fire was extinguished, the boat and most of its remains sank underwater, as it faced heavy damage and was essentially destroyed. Thanks to all the help from Boston, Cambridge, and Medford to extinguish the flames, there were no injuries and no firemen were hurt on duty.

The cause of the fire is still unknown and it is currently under investigation. It was stated by authorities that there has been another nearby boat that suffered damages from the fire. As of right now, there is no further information on the case, updates will be provided at a later date.
