SOMERVILLE – At approximately 3:40 PM on Wednesday August 16, 2023, Somerville Firefighters responded to a building fire at 1370 Broadway, a 12 story High-Rise apartment building, that is a part of the Clarendon Hill Towers apartment complex. Fire companies arrived and located a fire on a balcony on the 5th floor of the building.
The fire was confined to the 5th floor balcony, and quickly extinguished by Somerville Firefighter. A smoke condition remained in the building, and firefighters searched the upper floors to ensure everyone had evacuated properly. Cataldo EMS also responded and stood by for any potential injuries, along with Firefighter rehabilitation.
The American Red Cross was also requested to assist the occupants of the affected apartment. There were no serious injuries reported, and fire crews cleared the scene around 5:20. During the incident, mutual aid from Cambridge and Boston responded to cover Somerville’s stations.
