DEDHAM, MA – The Dedham Police and Fire Department, alongside Coastal EMS, responded to a 911 call at 19 Massachusetts Ave in Dedham early Saturday morning, October 07, 2023, where a vehicle fire threatened a nearby residence. Upon their arrival, Dedham police officers discovered a vehicle in the driveway fully engulfed in flames, with the fire extending to the nearby house.
Dedham Firefighters arrived moments later and quickly utilized specialized foam to douse the vehicle fire. Their quick managed to knock down the fire before it could cause any significant damage to the house’s interior or structure.
A building inspector was requested to the scene to assess the situation, and their evaluation confirmed that the firefighters’ fast intervention prevented any structural or significant interior damage. The cause of the car fire remains under investigation. Preliminary investigation indicates the fire began in the car.
The occupant of the home managed to evacuate the house unharmed, and no injuries were reported among the first responders or residents. The fire displaced at least one individual, and caused an unknown amount of damage.
