MALDEN, MA – Shortly before 1:00 Thursday afternoon, Malden Police and Fire along with Cataldo Ambulance, were dispatched to the intersection of Main Street and Mountain Avenue in response to reports of a pedestrian accident.
Upon their arrival, police units on the scene informed fire and EMS personnel that there was a two vehicle accident and that the pedestrian was trapped under one of the vehicles. Fire and EMS personnel arrived to the scene and found an unresponsive victim. It has since been confirmed that an elderly woman was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
In addition to the pedestrian, the drivers of the vehicles involved were assessed by Cataldo Ambulance personnel on the scene. The area around Main Street and Mountain Avenue was temporarily closed off to the public as Malden Police detectives collaborated with Troopers from the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section to investigate the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate incident.
