NORWOOD, MA – A man was struck and killed by a MBTA Commuter Rail train early this morning in Norwood. At approximately 04:30am Transit Police and Norwood Police responded to the Norwood Commuter Rail depot and Norwood Central station.

This occurred on the Franklin/Foxborough Line of the commuter rail, which had significant impacts on morning commuters. The Transit Police released a statement saying that the man, who has yet to be identified “intentionally placed himself” onto the tracks as the train approached.

Further, the Transit Police have stated that they believe that foul play was not involved in the man’s death. This makes it the first death this year in the Town of Norwood in regards to the Commuter rail.

The incident is still under investigation by the MBTA Transit Police and the Norfolk County District Attorney.
