BOSTON, MA – At approximately 3:00 AM on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, a motor vehicle accident occurred when a tanker carrying 8,000 gallons of fuel down McClellan Highway was involved in a collision with another vehicle, resulting in a fire consuming both vehicles.

The driver of the fuel-filled tanker miraculously managed to escape his vehicle uninjured and fled the area in fear of the tanker exploding. However, the situation was not as fortunate for the occupant of the other vehicle, who remained trapped inside as the flames rapidly consumed her vehicle.

The Boston Fire Department arrived on the scene, quickly tackling the raging fires that engulfed both vehicles. They immediately located the driver who had been helped out of her burning car by a passerby. The passerby used his jacket to extinguish the remaining flames on the driver before she was eventually turned over to the care of Boston EMS.

Sources indicate that she sustained burns covering a portion of her body and had severe injuries. The injured driver was rushed to an area hospital in critical condition. As of now, her current condition remains unknown, and our thoughts and prayers are with her and her loved ones during this difficult time.

As the Boston Fire Department worked to control the fires and prevent further disaster, a level 1 hazmat incident was declared due to the considerable fuel spill resulting from the accident. The cause of the accident is not known at this time. No further information has been made available at this time.
